Making Charcoal

搭建木炭坑是一种烧制木炭的方法。木炭坑是用原木堆构成的。手持原木时按住Shift并按右键就能在地上放置一个原木堆。手持原木对准原木堆按右键，或直接按右键打开原木堆界面就能放入更多原木。

原木堆需要下方有一个实心块。它们很容易着火。

The charcoal pit is formed by surrounding log piles with solid, non-flammable blocks. The amount of charcoal produced is proportional to the amount of logs contained inside the log piles. To start the burning process, light one of the log piles, and then cover it. If it worked, you should see smoke particles rise up from the structure.
You can make a charcoal pit any size and shape so long as its fully insulated.
By default the charcoal pit will take 18 in-game hours.

After the charcoal pit burns out and stops smoking, you will be left with Charcoal piles. The charcoal pile contains up to 8 layers of Charcoal. Dig it with a shovel to obtain the charcoal items. Charcoal piles can be added to or placed with 右键.

TIP: Do not cover your charcoal pit with a dense material like cobblestone, or it may fall and destroy your charcoal when completed.

Coke Oven

The Coke Oven is a multiblock that can automatically convert logs into charcoal and coal into Coke while producing Creosote. This structure becomes available when you first produce Wrought Iron and it is recommended to make one as soon as possible. Coke ovens are a massive quality of life upgrade for charcoal production, and both coke and creosote will be necessary for progression.

Coke Oven Tips

  • Coke ovens can have up to 4 hatches, replacing any coke oven brick.
  • Coke ovens must be hollow in the center.
  • The coke oven input hatch may get clogged with the output item. To avoid this, have an item pipe facing the input hatch with its flow direction set. You can use a hopper or chute to push into that pipe.
  • Crates are able to hold logs, unlike chests.
  • Save all your creosote!
