The Charcoal Forge is a device used to heat and melt items like metals, pottery, and bricks.
Forges are necessary to make a Crucible work.
It is constructed with 5 stone blocks―like cobblestone, raw stone, or bricks―surrounding a Charcoal Pile of 7 or 8 layers which is then lit.
A complete forge structure, ready to be lit.
A Forge needs a chimney in order to work. The block directly above the Forge must be air, or a Crucible. In addition, either the block directly above, or one of eight nearby blocks must be able to see the sky!
A Bellows can be placed one-block-up and adjacent-to the Forge, in order to increase the maximum temperature it can reach. But isn't strictly required.
Any one of the blue stained-glass must have direct sky access and access to the forge to count as a valid chimney.

TIP: You can directly throw fuel like charcoal on top of the forge with Q to re-fuel it.
The five slots at the bottom of the forge are used for fuel. While the forge is running, it periodically consumes fuel, which can be Charcoal, Coal, Coke, or Peat Briquettes. The top five slots will heat items, up to the temperature shown in the indicator on the left. The right side slots are for containers that can contain liquid metal, like Vessels and Molds. Items that melt in the forge will fill those containers. Otherwise, the molten fluid will be voided.
Bellows can be used to increase the temperature of a device by improving the supply of oxygen. However, by burning at a hotter temperature they will also consume fuel faster. The bellows can provide air to a block directly in front of it and one block below that. This allows it to provide air to a Blast Furnace, or a Charcoal Forge for example.
To use the bellows, simply place it facing the targeted heating device, and 右键 it. The bellows will pump air into the device, raising the maximum temperature for a short time. Bellows may be automated by supplying <16RPM of mechanical rotation to the back using a Shaft for example. This will disable manual usage. Consider using a Clutch to enable/disable mechanical power.
A puff from a bellows will supply air to a device for 200 ticks. However, most devices allow you to buffer up to 600 ticks of oxygenation at a time.
Devices will have their fuel consumption doubled no matter the duration of air left, so there is no additional penalty for using the bellows too much.
