Setting up a Moon Base

Congrats, you've successfully landed on the Moon! Here, you'll find Certus Quartz veins and the meteors that allow you to begin unlocking AE2.

But that's not all — some veins here have much higher density than those on Earth. For instance, you can easily find Ilmenite, Bauxite, Aluminium, and Chromite veins on the Moon.

Establishing a small base here will be crucial to keep progressing.

Your biggest challenge will be transporting resources, as there are no easy cross-dimensional tools like the Ender Chest or AE2 Quantum Link just yet.

We hope you're well prepared, unless you want to craft a second rocket and space suit just to go collect your corpse!

Flag Planter

Introduce yourself to the Moon by planting a flag with whatever image you like on it!

Breathable Gases

Find yourself a little short of breath? You'll need something to breathe up in space, so you'll want to look at producing any of these compressed gases, based off real-world ones used for deep sea diving!

You can fill your space suit with them the same way you'd fill up a bucket, or if you bring along a Gas Tank you'll be able to "drink" from it to replenish your suit without taking it off.

Nitrox is probably the easiest to produce on Earth, while you can set up Heliox-3 on the Moon.

A full space suit (2500mB) will last about 45 minutes.

Helium-3

The Moon is full of Helium-3, another important resource, but it's stuck inside the stone! There's two ways to get your hands on some:

Helium-3 is used for several things, of which the most important is making more air to breathe via Heliox-3! You can also use it as "fertilizer" for Chorus Fruit in the Electric Greenhouse, and eventually as another fuel for Fusion Power.

You will eventually want to set up an automatic process for Trimix-3 to fully power a Large Solar Array, by combining Helium-3, Oxygen, and Nitrogen.

Azurina

If you haven't set up any stone-related automation before, here's a quick introduction: A Rock Crusher can produce infinite raw stone, which a Macerator crushes into dust for a Centrifuge to process. Here on the Moon, Asurine can thus be processed into an infinite source of Helium-3!

Fluid Drilling Rig

Using a Fluid Drilling Rig is simpler, but doesn't come with any useful byproducts.

Regular Helium and Argon fluid deposits are also available on the moon.

Rover

The Rover is a vehicle that can hold up to two passengers, runs on combustible fuels (Diesels, Gasolines, and Rocket Fuel), and even has an inventory and radio that can play real-world radio stations!

Solar Panels

There are very few energy sources available on the Moon, but these Solar Panels have a lovely view of the Sun from up here!
On the moon, each Solar Panel provides the equivalent of 32 EU/t during the day with no fuel or upkeep needed. You will need to use an FE to EU converter, as there are no FE cables.

Large Solar Array

Large Solar Array

Small solar panels not cutting it? The Large Solar Array is your primary solution for power generation on the moon, as other Earth-based power generation methods do not work up here.

The LSA comes in three tiers, so you can upgrade it as you progress.

Use a Terminal to construct the multiblock easily.

Oxygen Distributor

So far you may be surviving, but do you want to truly thrive? If you're wanting to set up a more permanent base, look no further than the Oxygen Distributor! Feed it one of the compressed gases from earlier and it will "oxygenate" a large enclosed area.

Any solid block will work to build your base out of, but you'll want a proper airlock to ensure the gas doesn't all escape in a vortex. When combined with a Heat Pump, the enclosed space will become inhabitable, letting you take your helmet off, grow crops and place a water source without it freezing.

Energy consumption scales off of room size so make sure to give the appropriate energy hatch to your distributor.

Ventilação

The Vent is a solid block that can also let breathable air through without causing a vortex.

Sliding Doors

You will want to set up a proper airlock system between your base's insides and the vacuum of space. Other normal doors will work, but these 3x3 doors are very thematically appropriate for a high-tech moon base. They can be automated with a pressure plate as usual.

Tip: You can also use these doors for cleanrooms!

Higgs Emitter

The Higgs Emitter allows you to create artificial gravity, filling a sealed area like with a Heat Pump or Oxygen Distributor. The area size scales off of the multiblock's energy hatch tier.

Pintura Espacial

Space Paintings can provide some cool space-themed decoration in your base, or if you're homesick and just really want a big painting of Earth.

Extraterrestrial Death

In TFG, you can set your spawn on any dimension with a bed (even The Beneath!), but unless you've got a bunch of extra space suits lying around, respawning on the Moon might complicate things.

First of all, you'll definitely want your bed to be inside an oxygenated area, so you don't immediately die as soon as you respawn.

In case of a blackout, you should have enough time to break your bed and reset your spawn back to Earth.

Pérola da Alma

Secondly, you can upgrade each piece of your Space Suit with a Soul Pearl. This will make them stay equipped when you die!

You can get these from any of the tougher, hostile Endermen on the Moon.

We promise it's sci-fi and not magic.
