Mars Fauna

Mars Fauna

Mars is the planet with an environment closest to Earth's, featuring a wide variety of animals to interact with and crops to feed them (and yourself) with... outside of the huge desert, where almost nothing lives.

Mars is a Cold planet, meaning animals from Hot or Temperate planets will not normally survive.

The Sandworm

Sandworms are alerted by player ground movement. They are the reason almost nothing else lives in the desert.

SHAI-HULUD
SHAI-HULUD

The Sandworm is more of an environmental hazard than a boss to kill, so your best way of surviving it is to run away! If you manage to hit its head enough times with explosion damage, it will leave you alone... for a while.

Thankfully, the Sandworm can only damage entities, not buildings, and is only attracted to player ground movement, so any way to keep yourself off the ground won't anger it. The atmosphere is too thin for airplanes and hang gliders, but there are other ways...

Sniffers

Sniffers are domesticatable animals found between -30 and -102°C. They require a Large Nest to lay their eggs and can be shorn for Sniffer Tufts. Their eggs can be cooked or extracted for Cream. They eat any Mars crop.

A sniffer.

Wraptors

Wraptors are domesticatable animals found between -15 and -100°C. They require a Large Nest to lay their eggs and can be shorn for Wraptor Feathers. Their eggs can be cooked or extracted for Wraptor Sugar. They eat any Mars crop.

A wraptor.

Glacian Sheep

Preferring extremely cold environments below -108°C, Glacian Sheep are domesticatable animals. They can be shorn for Glacian Wool, an amazing insulator. They eat any Mars crop.

Need to transport them a long way? Consider using an AE2 Spatial Storage Cell to carry them around in your pocket.

Snatcher

Snatchers are passive animals that like to steal your stuff! Attack them to retrieve your items, or feed them Raw Fish to tame them.

Once tamed, you can carry them on your back and equip them with a wooden chest. Press Habilidade Especial to throw them, and they will steal the contents of a nearby chest and bring it to you.

Charger

Chargers are semipassive animals. You can tame them with any Mars crop to use them as a combat land mount.

Press Habilidade Especial for a headbutt attack, or press and hold Spacebar for a charge attack.

They can also be equipped with dyeable armor.

wan_ancient_beasts:charger

Chargers have a natural rivalry with Raiders. They will attack each other on sight.

Soarer

Soarers are passive animals found above -106°C. You can tame them with Raw Fish to use them as a flying mount.

They can't fly forever though, indicated by the wing icons on the top left, and will need to land occasionally. (You can feed them more Raw Fish to speed up their recovery.)

They're a great option for long-distance travel, and won't upset the sandworm either!

Surfer

Surfers are semiaquatic passive animals. You can tame them by sneaking up to them while they're lying on the shore, and feeding them raw fish. Once tamed, you can equip them with a saddle to swim quickly underwater too.

This doesn't sound particularly useful on Mars, but remember that you can transport entities around through AE2's Spatial Storage Disks, and there will be a certain oceanic icy moon in the future...

wan_ancient_beasts:surfer

Surfers come in a variety of colors.
