Living in the Beneath has some significant differences from life above! This entry contains some information that may prove to be useful for longer term survival in the depths.
The Beneath is hot! The temperature starts at 20°C at the very top, and only gets hotter as you descend.
Avoiding hyperthermia is much more of an issue than in the overworld, but there are ways to mitigate it.
The easiest way to avoid overheating is to stay in the upper levels of the Beneath and dunk yourself in water whenever you start overheating.
Bring along some Ice! Standing near it will lower your temperature. Ice can be harvested on the surface and the resulting Ice Shavings can be turned into Packed Ice. Packed and Blue ice won't melt and can be picked up using a Saw. Ice Slush can be drank.
Burlap, Linen, and Silk clothing will help provide some heat resistance.
Crocodile, Tiger, and Lion clothing provide a stronger cooling effect.
Lastly, Phantom and Red Elk clothes are the strongest cooling clothes, and last a long time too.
All clothing can be repaired. Press U to check the repair recipes in EMI.
Other ways to stay cool include standing next to Ice Jellies and eating cooling foods such as Ice Soup and Fruit Smoothies!
Due to the lack of sky access, the Charcoal Forge does not work in the Beneath!
The Hellforge is a gratuitously large forge, with high capacity for fuel, products, and heating. It can heat up to nine Crucibles at a time, and doesn't require sky access either!
It works in the overworld too.
Any type of Aqueduct will work.
The Hellforge requires lava to flow in aqueducts in its four corners, as well as 21 hellbricks. The 3x3 center must be filled with Charcoal Piles with 7 charcoal each, which then may be lit to start the forge.
To avoid overheating, we recommend using the lava from a small lava pool in the upper levels of the Beneath.
The item slots of the Hellforge may contain fuel, or things to be smelted; there is no distinction. Be careful what you put in! The slots on the right are what metals will melt into, as with the charcoal forge. The lava meter on the screen indicates temperature.
Rope Ladders are a great way to get up and down in the Beneath. Unlike regular ladders, they can hang over the edge of cliffs without needing any supporting blocks on the side, and a whole stack can be placed or picked up at once.
Burlap Fiber can be obtained from Oil Palms, and Rope Coils can be crafted out of Coils or other cloth.
Like you'd expect, you can trade with Piglins in the same way you trade with them in vanilla, with Gold Ingots.
A full list of trades can be found in EMI - simply press U on a Gold Ingot to see it.
取引をスムーズに進めたい場合、あるいは単に地元の人たちと交流したい場合は、ピグリンの変装マスクを身につければ、ピグリンが初対面で敵対的になるのを防げます。ただし、注意してください! 彼らにも我慢の限界があります……
You may come across tall Towers in the Beneath. These contain a little bit of loot, but are primarily intended for easy vertical travel.
They are more heavily defended the deeper you get, however.
砦への襲撃は極めて危険ですが、その分、大きな見返りが得られることもあります!以下のようなものが手に入ります:
Raiding a Bastion might be very dangerous, but they can also be very rewarding! You can find things like:
