Greenhouse

Greenhouse

The Greenhouse is a multiblock device controlled by a Climate Station. It allows growing crops year round. The Greenhouse has an array of types and blocks to choose from. However, building a greenhouse is quite simple. Like the Cellar, it should be an enclosed area of blocks belonging to the same Greenhouse Type. The floor of the greenhouse may be any non-air block.

The walls of greenhouses must be solid faces. Panel walls should be placed so that the face that is on the exterior of the block (ex. the face you can place a torch on) faces into the greenhouse. Trapdoors, doors, and roofs are always valid and require no special placement.

The maximum internal volume of a greenhouse is 31x31x31 blocks.

Greenhouse Types are families of greenhouse blocks that can be used interchangeably in a greenhouse. Additionally, TerraFirmaGreg adds more greenhouse wall styles that can be swapped around with the basic greenhouse walls of the same tier.
Validate a greenhouse by placing a climate station against a wall and Right Click it. Or, place it anywhere and Right Click it with a greenhouse block of the same type as the structure.

Greenhouse Types

These are the Greenhouse Types available, with aged varients availble through crafting:

  • Treated Wood: Weathered
  • Copper: Exposed, Weathered, Oxidized
  • Iron: Rusted
  • Stainless Steel: N/A
Note: Aged varients have no effect outside of appearance.

There are four types of regular Greenhouse Blocks: Walls, Doors, Roofs, and Roof Tops. Roofs and Roof Tops are stairs and slabs, respectively. There are also thinner versions of these blocks, known as panel walls, trapdoors, and panel roofs. These can be combined however you choose to form the structure of the greenhouse.

Planters

Planters are used to grow crops inside a Greenhouse. Crops in planters consume Nutrients similarly to crops. Planters should be placed inside a valid Greenhouse and activated with a Climate Station. Planters need at least some natural sunlight to work.

Plantador grande

Large Planters are the simplest kind of planter. They grow a single crop from seed, and are harvested with Right Click when mature.
Large Planters typically grow Large Crops and Grains. However, to grow Grains, you need a Copper or better Greenhouse.

Maceta cuádruple

Quad Planters grow four individual crops at once that all draw from the same nutrient pool, and can be harvested individually with Right Click when mature.
Quad Planters typically grow smaller vegetables such as Onions and Beets. These crops can be grown in any greenhouse type.

Maceta bonsái

Bonsai Planters grow small fruit trees from their saplings.
Bonsai Planters grow Fruit Tree Types, except Bananas, and Palm Fruit Trees, which need a Hanging Planter. They need an Iron or better greenhouse to grow.

Plantador colgante

Hanging Planters grow crops upside down.
Hanging Planters grow Squash, Pumpkin, Melons, Bananas, and Palm Fruit Trees. Palm Fruit Trees require a Copper+ greenhouse, Squash can be in any tier, and the rest need Iron+. Hanging planters need to anchor to a solid block above them.

Trellis Planter

Trellis Planters grow berry bushes.
Trellis Planters have the unique property of propagating berry bushes. If a trellis planter is placed on top of another with a mature berry bush, it has a chance to grow upwards into the next one. Trellis planters usually require an Iron or better greenhouse to work.

Plantador hidropónico

Hydroponic Planters grow submerged crops like Rice and Cranberry Bushes. They work the same as a quad planter, except that they do not need to be watered.
Hydroponic Planters must instead, have a Fluid Pipe below them supplying water. Without the pipe they will not grow.

Irrigación
Irrigación

Planters must be Watered to grow. This is done with a Watering Can or automatically with Sprinklers. Press Right Click with a watering can to water nearby planters. Refill your can by pressing Right Click on a water source.

The Sprinkler is a device that sprinkles water in a 5x6x5 area centered on the block below or above the sprinkler block. You know it is working when it drips out water particles. Sprinklers must be connected to a system of pipes that feed it water in order to work.

Tubería

Feeding sprinklers with water can be done by connecting Fluid Pipes to them and pumping in water with a Mechanical Pump.
You can Right Click a pipe with a GregTech Frame or a Greenhouse Port to pass them through a wall. Right Click fluid pipes with a wrench to change their direction, and Shift + Right Click them with an empty offhand to make them one-way.

Auto-Harvesting
Auto-Harvesting

  • Sweepers are used to harvest planters other than Quad and Hydroponic planters. They can be powered by redstone.
  • Pickers can be powered via redstone signal from above. They extend down to pick the crops from Quad and Hydroponic planters.

  • Additionally, Harvest Baskets can be used to harvest most planter types.
  • To collect the loose items that the Sweepers and Pickers drop, you can use a Hopper Minecart, a Contraption with Funnels, or a GregTech Item Collector.
Electric Greenhouse

The multiblock Electric Greenhouse can be your source of Logs and other plants if you prefer making GregTech machines over Create contraptions. It also has the unique property of being able to grow more of TFC's decorative plants!

You can make one at the end of LV.

Note: This multiblock can have its walls customized to use any valid iron-tier greenhouse block.

Check the EMI multiblock preview for a list of all the different blocks you can use.

The Electric Greenhouse can also be improved in a few ways, including fertilizer or later in HV with the Aquaponics Loop.

Instalación Hidropónica

The Hydroponics Facility is an IV upgrade to the Electric Greenhouse that can grow anything in any dimension and also supports Parallel Hatches.
